Copyrighted Materials:
This website, and the comic/cartoon images and characters contained within, are subject to the protection of the United States (USA) and International copyright laws.
The quotations used in the comic panels, however, are the intellectual properties of their original and respective authors and we make no claim to them. In fact, all quotes used are respectfully attributed to their original author/source for historical and perspective referencing regardless of a valid copyright claim or not.
The majority of the quotes used in Quotoons are already in the public domain. Quotes made before 1924 are considered to be in the public domain, with a few exceptions. See: Copyright & Public Domain
Where the author of the quote is still alive or the copyright claim is still viable under current copyright laws, Quotoons makes every effort to obtain written express permission from the author, or his or her agent, to use the quote. This is the default position in every circumstance of this situation. Should the author be unavailable or unreachable to contact, then that author is encouraged to contact us using the contact form on this website.
Where express written permission has not be given, and the author, or author’s agent, is unobtainable or unavailable, then Quotoons claims the fair use defense under the fair use doctrine. Depending on the comic panel, and how it was written, the claim of fair use amounts to parody and/or satirical use of the quote. The short phrases exception may also apply.
As an originator and creator, Quotoons by Charlie Rubel recognizes copyright laws were designed and created to protect those interests and we take copyright infringement seriously, as we are protected by those laws as well. Should you have any question about a quote used in a Quotoons comic, please do not hesitate to use the Contact form on this website.
All other content, such as the logo and characters, are the copyright of Quotoons by Charlie Rubel and you are strictly prohibited from using them without prior written consent.
